Review: MoloPix
MoloPix is an iPhone app that tiles multiple photos into one image. It’s similar to QuadCamera but with different tiling options and an integrated website. The site automatically displays the location the photo was taken, and hiding the location is possible. It also includes commenting and rating, so it’s easy to find pictures people think are cool and discuss them. Setting up an account is zero hassle: you create from within the iPhone app, and there’s just 3 fields!
This is what the interface and resulting photos look like:
The site centres the images on a black background and resizes them, so although they look good online the ones stored on your phone look better. That means it’s best to save the photos as well as share them.
MoloPix is a simple and fun app. The site is a cool feature, and much like QuadCamera you get surprisingly interesting effects from the iPhone’s limited camera. I think MoloPix would be better if it had a shutter sound effect — I can’t always tell if I tapped the button. It’s also meant to work with Twitter but I can’t find the tweet button the instructions mention (update: the author has fixed this glitch!) Apart from those quibbles it’s great fun to play with, as you can see from my test photos!
MoloPix is available now from the iTunes app store for £1.79.
